If we were being sarcastic, we'd probably characterize Teclast as an exciting and dynamic outfit whose gear we always look forward to getting our hands on. Still, we were pretty surprised when the initial product renders for the M66 portrayed the device as little more than a glorified digiframe -- a Rockchip RK2806-packing digiframe, but still not very charming. All that said, we're relieved to report that in its current state the bad boy is a bit more palatable, sporting a 5-inch display, 720p decoding support, and support for H.264 MKV, RM / RMVB, and AVI video. Microsoft ushers in spring with new Zune Originals designs
How much Zune can you handle? It's a question few have asked, and even fewer have answered. Microsoft seems to be unafraid of such conundrums, however, and it has now fearlessly introduced a new collection of Zune Originals designs in a day filled with Zune rumors. Each of the new designs, appropriately, feature a spring theme from artists APAK, Carolina Melis, and Linn Olofsdotter, and include options like a "tree-like design," a "tapestry-like design," and a giant Queen Bee for those that really want to stand out. Best of all, as with other similar Zune Originals collections, each of these are available at no extra charge, and are ready to be etched into your future Zune right now.

Zune rumors heat up, MS getting ready to launch Zune software on phones?
Yeah, something is definitely up in Zuneland. Not only did images of the Zune HD leak out late last week, todayAdWeek says that Microsoft's auditioning three major ad agencies for the launch of a new mobile service called "Pink" -- which is the project codename for Zune software on mobile phones. No, this doesn't mean any of those Tegra-powered Zunephone rumors are coming true -- it's far more likely that Microsoft is finally gearing up to re-launch Zune as the preferred media software and service for Windows Mobile, a plan Steve Ballmer's beenhinting at for ages now. Remember, Microsoft has to keep its large stable of Windows Mobile hardware manufacturers happy, and launching a hyped new phone of its own with a Zune-based OS would basically be perceived as stabbing a billion-dollar business in the back -- not something you want to do when most of your partners are also deep in the Android game. On the other hand, you don't audition three huge ad agencies just to launch a Zune app on busted ol' WinMo, so there could be something big cooking -- if you forced us to throw caution to the wind and just guess, what we'd want to see is that$500m Danger acquisition pay off in the form of a reskinned consumer-oriented edition of Windows Mobile that integrates Zune services, running not only on a touchscreen Zune HD, but a variety of phones from third-party partners. Wishful thinking? You bet -- probably even crazy thinking -- but it would certainly shake things up, and that's never a bad thing. Toshiba's leaked product roadmap gets us hot, extra bothered by fuel-cell powered L01 MID

If the roadmap posted after the break is to be believed (and we think it is) then Toshiba is set to capture a lot of attention with its Snapdragon-based handhelds over the coming year. Techblog.gr has what it claims to be the Toshiba Device Roadmap through 2010. They've shown us a PowerPoint sample off-line that seems to support the claim. Of course, this isn't the first time Tosh has leaked an entire product cycle and the named devices align nicely with some of the prototypes Toshiba was showing-off at CES in January (see gallery below). Toshiba was already off to a good start in 2009 with its incredibly thin4.1-inch TG01 running atop Qualcomm's snapdragon platform. It just gets better from there. First we've got the TG02 (launching in Q4) update to the TG01 that adds IPX4 water resistance without changing the specs or the dimensions. The TG03 ups the ante again with the inclusion of a 3-channel speaker for a better video experience.
Also in Q4, Tosh looks ready to launch a 15-mm QWERTY slider version of the 9.9-mm TG01 with new capacitive (!) touchscreen called the K01. All other specs look unchanged including WinMo 6.5. Next is the K02 clamshell with primary 3.5-inch WVGA display and QWERTY on the inside coupled with a secondary LCD and 10-key on-screen keypad on the outside. The K02 features a resistive touchscreen, HSPA data, and same QSD8x50 chipset found in the TG01 (and all the other devices on this roadmap). Last, but by no means least, is the 7-inch L01 looking every bit the love-child of a Nokia N800 and HTC Advantage. The very same device that was shown powered by a DMFC (fuel cell) at CES in January. Interesting since Toshiba has promised a consumer device powered by a fuel cell before March of 2010. Unfortunately, it's limited to WinMo 6.5 (with a hint of a Windows Mobile 7 in 2010) and the same WVGA resolution seen on the smaller screens when it launches. Assuming the leak is true, of course.

Sony X-Series Walkman gets the hands-on video treatment
We've already seen a somewhat underwhelming official video of Sony's new X-Series Walkman (or NWZ-1060, to be specific), but anyone seriously considering the touchscreen PMP will no doubt also want to check out CNET Asia's new hands-on video, which offers a decidedly less controlled look at the device in action. That includes a glimpse of the Walkman's seemingly speedy album art browsing mode, a better look at the trademark granite edge surrounding the device and, of course, a full overview of those dedicated control buttons that allow for non-touchscreen use. Brionvega's retro-futurist MP3 / radio stolen from the set of Fahrenheit 451
Once again, the gang at Brionvega prove that sometimes sexy is enough. The Italian company's been doing its thing since the 1940s, and this radio is actually a refresh of a model that first debuted in 1965. The RR227 (as it's affectionately known) is pretty straightforward -- an AM / FM tuner that sports an SD card slot for MP3 or WMA playback. This bad boy also features headphone out, aux in, and a USB connection. It will run off of European mains power (Yanks will need to get an AC adapter) or, if you're picnicking with a loved one near the Seine, it also runs off batteries. Available in black, white, or red.
